No one plans to be a refugee
What if one day, while you were living your life, sending your kids to school, keeping a home and all at once your way of life disappeared? What if you were forced to flee your home, your country or abandon your culture? Last year that was the case for more than 42 million men, women and children. Imagine being stuck in a “temporary settlement” unable to leave, work, provide or engage in society for a decade or more. This is the situation for most of the world’s refugees.
A few however, have the opportunity to start again, to be resettled in a new community - a community where they do not know the culture or the language and where their professional credentials are worthless. These are the lucky refugees. They have come to Buffalo with a desire to overcome and to succeed and that is truly inspiring. In recent years thousands have resettled on Buffalo’s West Side transforming otherwise declining working-class neighborhoods into vibrant, diverse communities. As with each new wave of migration before, beginning with the Germans, the Poles, the Irish, the Italians and the African Americans, resettling refugees are having a profound effect in rejuvenating Buffalo.
Your tax-deductible donation will assist refugees as they begin their lives again. Your support not only assists individuals and families, but your gift also contributes to rebuilding Buffalo. Refugee communities are the fastest growing segments of our community, and their impact is increasingly being felt. Be a part of it.

In addition, Journey’s End welcomes donations of gently used or new household items, grouped as Welcome Kits. Donations can be dropped off at our location or we can arrange for pick up.
