Are you tired of undependable, irresponsible tenants?
Journey's End Housing has the answer.
Renting to a refugee family can be rewarding experience. Refugees are eager to create a new home and become successful, contributing members of our community. Last year, 1,600 refugees were resettled in Buffalo. Journey's End resettled 450 of them. This year, the expected number of refugees coming to Buffalo is 2,000. There are refugee populations living in Buffalo from Burma, Iraq, Somalia, Eritrea, the Sudan, The Democratic Republic of Congo, Burundi, Liberia and Cuba. We find apartments for each of these families, who are eager to have a place to call home and make their very own.
Refugees are people who have fled their homes, businesses, farms and communities in order to escape war and persecution. After fleeing their homeland, they must build their lives from scratch. Journey's End receives notices for a case's arrival anywhere between two weeks to a month ahead of time. At this time, we begin searching for housing that is safe, sanitary, of a sufficient size, affordable and accessible to public transportation.
- 1- or 2- bedroom ($375-$425)
- 3- bedroom ($475-525)
- 4-bedroom and larger ($675-750)
Apartments should be ready to live in and clean. We are required to secure housing for our clients that include appliances.
We provide support and orientation for all our clients, whatever the need. Newly arrived clients receive orientation discussing basic house maintenance such as:
- Garbage removal and cleaning
- Paying rent and utilities
- Being a good neighbor
- Responsibilities and rights as a tenant, just to name a few.
