TITLE: esol teacher
Supervisor: Director of education
Status: FULL-time, hourly, non-EXEMPT, PROFESSIONAL starting at $22 Per hour

We are currently looking for 2 teachers.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The ESOL Teacher’s primary responsibility will be focused on the development and implementation of the ELL curriculum aligned with New York State’s reporting standards for English Language acquisition and/or the General Education Diploma (GED) standards as well as teaching an ELL class to adults. May include teaching of beginner through advanced English, math, and other cross curricular subjects such as science and social studies.
Job Responsibilities
Design and Implement the ESOL curricula and activities to meet academic standards with support from Director of Education.
Develop level appropriate differentiated techniques and strategies addressing all aspects of communication that enhance each student’s ability to read, write, speak, and listen in content areas at levels that ensure learners meet or exceed learning targets.
Develop ESOL assessments that measure progress towards academic standards. Use BEST Plus and TABE assessments regularly to determine and track student academic progress.
Use assessment data and reflection to refine curriculum and change instructional practices and support grant/funding requirements.
Participate in collaborative curriculum development and grade-level activities.
Create a nurturing, supportive, and positive learning environment in a diverse classroom with high expectations that encourage student responsibility and enhance motivation.
Assist with rolling intakes and assessments.
Attend all staff meetings and common JERS responsibilities.
Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree with two years’ experience.
Valid New York State Teacher certification preferred.
TABE Test and BEST Plus Administrator preferred.
Experience working with the refugee population or in a diverse classroom environment.
Additional language skills an asset.
Possess the ability to be flexible, creative, and willing to collaborate with other teachers.
